Wow, so it’s July now. How exactly this happened to quickly will forever be a mystery to me. They say that time goes by faster the older one gets. At this time, I can say this is true. But just because I don’t update in a while doesn’t mean I don’t do anything interesting – usually… well, maybe. Life is Taos is … *yawn* sleepy n’stuff. Lately our excitement comes when we go to conventions.
Most people, if they go to a convention, will go to one a year – maybe. We’ve been to three so far, and we have one more coming in August. Never thought I’d hear myself say this but . . . I think I’m getting tired!
So I’ll just share some pictures of our goings on at these convention things. The last one was in Philly, also hosted by Wizard World Inc. This time, my sister got to come with us, and we BOTH dressed up. T’was fun.
ABQ Comic Expo (ACE!)
Then we went to the Albuquerque Comic Expo the very next weekend, and had MORE fun! I got to pose with the original Bat Mobile. That’s my “Lolita Trying to Act Tough” face…
Part of the fun of going to these things is hunting for pictures that other people take of you, on the internet. It seems these were the only ones I could find, though it sure seemed like a lot more people that that stop us for photos … which is admittedly quite fun. Oh, the vanity!
Things To Be Done Perhaps
So, I was tentatively thinking of offering to draft copies of Gothic Lolita Bible patterns for fellow Loli-seamstresses out there. Not knowing the best way to begin, I just go ahead and offered this to a group on Facebook. I got a couple takers! Halfway into making the first copy of a jumpskirt pattern, I realize how much work I was doing. :-/
I didn’t ask for compensation, and rightfully they assume I would be doing this thing for free, which was correct. But now I’m thinking maybe I should charge a little something for this? It’s a whole pattern, on professional tracing paper, and a page of my notes. So then the question is, how much is this worth? Maybe it should depend on the pattern, because there’s a lot of smaller patterns for headdresses and accessories.
My drafting skills are pretty adequate, I think. I use all the right rulers. AND I have lots of GLBs with patterns. Hmm. A small business, perhaps?
All things must end
Another thing I’ve been considering lately is my website. And do I need it? Since this blog is pretty much just that – a blog – I could just make a free wordpress account and continue my randomness there. So yes, lately, I’ve been considering closing this website once the registered domain name is up for renewal next year in August. By then I may very well be in Japan, and perhaps would have started an entirely different blog to chronicle my travels.
Life has some pretty random phases. I’m curious to see where this one goes though.
Thanks for reading, all three of you! <3
