Sharing some of my work here. Did these for a friend of a friend who likes how my Second Life screenshots come out. And also that I do a little graphic design here and there. I don’t claim to be any expert on it, and far from it! But I know a little something ^.^ – enough to make friends happy.

The Update Sort Of

I know this might sound weird, but I just updated my song list! Ha! Well, not by much. I added the two new songs I’ve been doing that I’m happy with – La Soledad by Laura Pausini and Still Alive by Lisa Miskovsky from the Mirror’s Edge OST. Currently, I’m investigating some other new songs to do. The whole process of coming up with a playlist for a show is still new to me. I’ve still only been at this for six months or so now, and it’s still a little bit of trial and error . . . and not getting distracted by shiny things long enough to learn new songs.

Learning new songs was something I was doing all the time when I was in high school. Each semester, we got a packet of sheet music in all the choir groups I was in during high school. By senior year, I was in four groups, and each of them had at least 6 or 7 major pieces of music. Classic music, in different languages most of the time. But high school was 10-14 years ago. Gah! That’s weird too.

Anyway, my memory isn’t the problem. I’m not stuck in a classroom five days a week, three hours each day, learning music any more, and I’m not doing classical. And learning the songs I’m doing this time, for a different purpose and with a different style of singing is still somewhat of a learning experience. Most of the songs I already know, actually, but I haven’t actively committed to memory and polished my own sound yet. Some songs are polished, some are perpetually in the process of polishing.

The ultimate goal would be to write a song myself. But let’s not go there. I’m not feeling that yet, so I’m not pushing it. Currently, I’m happy as a clam singing other people’s stuff. It’s fun, and a little easier. :) I admire songwriters, though. I’m still not sure how to do it, but I hope to figure it out soon!

Starlite Gardens

The opening at my little place went . . . well, for the most part. It wasn’t a three hour event, as I had been oblivious to all the discussions around me about going out of town that afternoon. So I only had time to do my hour program and then jet. Didn’t have time to find a DJ or host or anything like that yet. In fact, I’m still not sure how to find people to host at my venue. Suggestions?

Top View Fountain On the swing...

Make yourself comfy! Flowers and a stage. :) And a dance floor!

Anyone want to be hired as a host or hostess at Starlite Gardens? Maybe a friendly manager type might be nice. Live performers I know about, since I am one and run in those circles, but if you know of anyone who would like to perform in such a venue as mine, drop me a line! Leave comments here on my blog too. :)

Comments will be open until further notice, or until some jerk decides to abuse the privilege.

Also, I wanted to mention that after this week, I’ll mostly be inactive for the rest of July, as we’re going on our honeymoon / road trip thing across the Southwest! We’ll be visiting Mesa Verde, Chaco Canyon, the Grand Canyon, maybe even Sedona, AZ! So I’ll have no time for Second Life, I’m afraid, though I WILL be bringing the MiFi thing I just bought. We got the beefy data plan from Verizon (no contract) so we could have good internets on this trip without paying some sleezy hotel 10 bucks a day when I’m only checking my email once in a while. Harrumph.

So that’s the news, kids! I plan to have my Garden venue open for hang outs, discussions, music and dancing, though I won’t be performing. I may end up DJing a little. :) I has good musicks!

In Closing

I would like to take this opportunity as well to promote a live singer I’ve just discovered, with a sweet voice and who’s also trained (but she’s got a one up on me, since she actually plays guitar too). She’s lovely and delightful to listen to! Heard her play at Le Chiantelle Ballroom, so if you ever get a chance to check her out, her name is Carmel Daines.

It was great meeting you, Carmel! <3

Dancing and Such

Firstly, why is it so hard to get up enough motivation to take the car in for an oil change, I wonder?

Aside from that, hi everyone!!   It’s me again, and I’m writing to you while I have my avatar hanging out currently at the Sultan’s Oasis Dance Club.

Dancing_002

Dancing_004

She’s soooo cute when she dances. I think it’s safe to say that I’m not the only one who thinks their own avatar looks good. It’s a pride thing. It’s your creation that you made, and so there she is. I tried to make her look sort of like me, but there’s only so much you could do. I like my real life face, but my avatar is way more glamorous and, in my opinion, way cuter too. But I love to watch her dance. Pole dancing is even fun! (Hey, we’re adults here! ^o^ )

Trying to use my slow cooker more often is proving difficult, especially after the last disaster. See, I keep trying to find ways to cook at home so we can start saving money that way, but being a computer and video game nerd as well as being the female in the house is making it problematic. Slow cooker = making a yummy meal and leaving it alone ALL DAY so you have dinner ready without really doing anything – except the chopping up of things and sticking it in the pot in the morning.

But the last time I tried it, it was – not good. Maybe it was that my husband got me the Onion and Mushroom dry soup mix instead of just Onion like I’m trying today. It was . . . flavorless last time. All that meat. *sigh* At least my husband and roommate liked it. I thought it was inedible. This time should be better… ;-;

Oh, yeah! I meant to share these pics. I went wandering around INSILICO the other day, and stumbled upon a delightful little oasis. I guess most of the city is up in a sky platform, so everything on the ground looks like post-apocalyptic wastelands with scrap metal sticking out of the ground. Trying to TP without the aid of the established LMs (like going into the Map and randomly selecting a place to TP to) put me on the ground in Insilico and look what I found!

I’m a girl…

Yes, I love fashion in Second Life. I don’t really care too much to spend all sorts of money on RL clothes, though I do splurge on that night indie designed dress once in a while. That’s probably why I like fashion in Second Life – it’s all independent designers and small businesses, and sure they make money doing it. I make money singing, and I love to reciprocate by using the L$ I earn to spend on a deserving designer of some really cute dress I just HAD to have… You know how it is, girls, right?

And maybe some guys out there just HAVE to have that awesome Cybernetic nuclear powered cyborg armor. Trust me. I understand.

In any case, I don’t have too many qualms about spending 500+ L$ on a great outfit, or rockin’ pair of Cybernetic boots that change texture and color… Because I know that’s going to some dude (or dudette) who happens to be good at computers and designing. Yay, small business to the max! And it’s of course my pleasure to wear pretty things on stage. I was obsessed with my Night Fairy wings for a while

.Fairy Nights_005

Anyway, what I guess I’m trying to say is, “Share your Linden Love,” with those hot designers, and scripters that work hard, the venue owners, the performers, the DJs, the hosts and hostesses. Pay your bills, buy your RL food, take care of your RL needs, but if you’re going to splurge on fun stuff, the best support you can give are to the flourishing small businesses in Second Life.

Yay, Life!

And remember, Second Life is still second. :) But it’s a hell of a lot of fun, and there sure are a hell of a lot of good people in it! Don’t let the couple bad apples ruin YOUR experience, because it’s yours to enjoy!

Good morning…But I Digress!

And here we are again, getting all lazy with her blogging. I just get all caught up in things, I guess, this is really a secondary (or thirdary, or fourthary…) kind of activity. But that’s okay, I was busy making a friend anyhow, so it’s all good.

Loving Amethystium, dude. <3

If I could make some kind of cool music like that and sing to it, I would definitely be a happy little musician. As it is, I still struggle to learn my guitar. Mostly I’m having trouble writing lyrics that aren’t trite and contrived. I’m sure the inspiration will come in due course.

And then..

Currently, I’ve immersed myself in a little RP action thing over at the INSILICO region. It’s a cyberpunk roleplaying region, and finally I have an excuse to wear my nifty android eyes.

Check out my INSILICO profile here!

Selene Audion - Android

So, the story goes like this:

Selene Audion is an autonomous android created by a long dead robotic engineer who dabbled in music and art history. Naturally because of this, he created Selene Audion to be an entertainment and a companion to love him, and so she is built with a special emotion chip. It was twenty years since she lost her creator, and the unfortunate side-effect of the chip is that she still loves him. How is it possible to love someone who has gone, and why does it pain her so?

Selene was programmed according to the three laws of robotics, in possession of a seemingly outdated positronic brain manufactured by a private company before deregulation of the industry made unsafe parts with faulty A.I. systems. Unlike the cheap counterparts roaming dangerously free, Selene is solidly hand-built with care. Her brain may be old, but it manages to adapt and upgrade itself, perhaps having acquired a true sentient personality after so much time has passed?

An android with a rare message – considering the source – kindness and love and art and music . . . all the qualities her creator had intended in his entertainment. (See “Olympia”, “The Doll Song”, “The Tales of Hoffman”)

Yes, I have quite an imagination, and if I thought about it, I could go really deep into detail about who this girl is in this world and how it all works around her, and her naivete most likely being a factor in the story. It could be very interesting. My buddy and I were discussing it today and he agreed. Gosh, I haven’t gotten into RP in a while. Ha! I’m having quite a bit of fun, I must confess.

But even with my imagination, the references are there to affirm the connection or inspiration I had. I like the idea of the mechanical doll from the Tales of Hoffman, that the creator winds up at a big gathering to show it off, and it sings (and sometimes) dances for all the guests, breaking down in the middle of the song a couple times. It’s a nice song too! Wish I could sing like that, but alas! Not I.

Anyway, thought it’d be cute to update the story a bit and use an android as a singing robot girly thing. ^^

Oh, and look @ pics! ^o^

Greetings, Friends!

24-11 After that Sci-Fi convention, I was wondering if I’d forgotten how to sing! I felt it very strange to be so far from home, as if I’d been temporarily cut off from my real life – which is true, in essence. Though I had lots of fun on my own there in Tampa, FL, the 100% humidity and 90-some degree weather made it a challenge to be as happy as I usually try to be. heh. I think my husband tolerates it for me, though. He loves me enough to let me go on and on about Percy the Tribble.

Sad thing is, though, that the Double Tree hotel there by the airport in Tampa isn’t all that great. The people were very very nice, I’m happy to report – but the food was inedible most of the time. I couldn’t wait to get home in some ways, but I endured for my hubby. He’s such a good sport.

The Line-up!

Starting this week I, Selene Audion, will be performing at the Wiseguys Social Club in Second Life. Fridays, May 7 – 28th. I had a brief moment of panic with Google Calendar not loading this morning, but all seems well now, and you can check the schedule there. As always, I try to provide links to all my shows (as in SLurls for those odd few reading this NOT involved in Second Life).

But actually, I hope you guys knew that too – my Stars (nice supportive people I refuse to call fans ^.^ ). If you ever need the link to the venue and you didn’t get the message in time, you can always check here and find it. I’ve been trying to be good about providing weekly schedules with appropriate SLurls, so keep that in mind. And, personally, I think I’ve been doing a pretty good job.

Ooh, and I’m writing songs now! OMG!

O.O

Be good, and be happy,

Signed Selene Audion
