This may not mean much to some people, since the magazine in question is one found only in Second Life. But it’s still quasi-serious in that they advertise fashion designers in Second Life with virtual products sold for real money. The real money part is still kind of surreal to think about in context to virtual world. Heh… I’ve been splurging with my earnings lately too . . .

I love to buy new clothes. Yes, just about as functional as Barbie clothes, but it’s all in the name of fun. So I LOVE to dress up my avatar in cute new clothes that other people designed and created. I got interviewed for my fashion sense, I guess! Here I bring you the article from Second Life!

I would like to make a slight correction, my name does not necessarily mean brightness. The name “Selene” is used in connection to Greek mythology and the Greek Pantheon of gods involving the moon goddess of the same name. So the goddess herself was bright, but the word “Selene” is synonymous with the moon itself as well as being the name of the ruler of its domain.

Playing with photoshop retouching…

So, I’m not really a graphic designer anymore, and when I was one, it was “back in the day”. A lot of things have changed (and improved) in photoshop, and so I find myself once more a little behind the learning curve… though I think I pay pretty good attention to tutorials. ^o^

This is my avatar in Second Life, dressed in a cute dress you can’t see, with her long brown hair style called “Sweet Dollarbie” Browns (I got them in all colors – ‘cause it was only 1 L$). But as you can see, I did a little enhancement on the hair. Whether I did it well or not depends on the person viewing it, I guess. I think I did a pretty fair job for someone who doesn’t does this but once every few months or so. ‘Cause I’m a singer – not a dedicated photoshopper like some really talented (and nice!) people out there.

Feel free to download the above graphic if you want to… Especially if you’re one of my delightful Stars. :-)

Hey people! New pics from a show I had last week! I just LOVE to dress my avi up in different outfits… and sometimes I repeat myself because I have favorites. Ooh! And did you know that I invested in a photo studio system! I need to rent a place somewhere to set it up! It’s 40+ prims!

Yay, fake world photography! It’s still fun and creative, though. I’m having quite a bit of fun!

Some pics taken the other day at some friends’ shows. Cailidgh Spires and Mudge Barbara were on consecutively, and I was there for moral support. It was fun! Then we went skydiving.

I love WordPress. Can you believe I actually used to pay for a LiveJournal account when I had my own website the whole time? I had had no idea how easy it was to configure your site to handle wordpress until a friend of mine mentioned it to me. 20 dollars a year wasn’t that bad, though. And actually, I quite liked LiveJournal for everything they offered for that price.

I guess it’s a good service if you don’t have a website and want to share stuff with people, the world, your friends, or even just yourself if you wanted to. But for me, my website makes everything happy. I can download awesome themes for free (And I thank everyone who worked so hard on creating them!), and apply them to the site.

The nasty, horrible, nightmarish part – for me, anyway – is dealing with the CSS code. I know a little bit. I can fake it when I want to, or learn a few things with some great ambition. But as another friend of mine, GreaterThanZero, mentioned, “It’s the C in the CSS that’s really the hard part,” and I’m paraphrasing, “Cascading = tricky.”

So I’m using this lovely Water Lily theme right now. I think I like it, but who knows? With me, it could change at a moment’s notice. I tell people I have “Creative ADD” . . . where I’ll really get into something for about 2 weeks, and then move on to something else. I can’t just stick with one theme, sometimes. I have many pretty ones! But the reconfiguring of the widgets and a few other things may dissuade me from changing the theme too often.

So anyway, I finally got it working, after GTZ helped point out the spots that were causing trouble. The paragraphs weren’t spaced at the bottom! And there was no indentation. So I fixed that, which caused the date at the top to move to the right, so it looked funky and floating out in space. Took two hours to figure out that you needed to cancel out the margin-bottom and text-indent that I added to the .post p from the #date p . . . well, now it works. Obviously.

In other news, I made my man-companion take some new pictures of me now that my hair’s gotten a little longer (the way he likes it ^.^).
